The Sync screen is where you send your work to Salesforce and get the latest updates. It also shows what’s waiting to upload and how your recent syncs went. To learn how sync works, see Understand Offline Work and Sync. To open the Sync screen, in the side menu, tap Sync. Or, on the home screen, tap +, and then tap Sync Data.

Run a Sync

A sync uploads your changes and downloads the latest updates from Salesforce. With Sync Images on, it also uploads your photos. If the button says Background Syncing…, a background sync is already running. Wait for it to finish, and then start these steps.
1

Check Your Connection

Under SYNC STATUS, make sure Status says Online.
  • Online means only that your device has a connection. A weak signal can still make sync slow.
2

Turn On Sync Images If You Have Photos

Turn on Sync Images so photos and signatures upload. When it’s off and photos are waiting, the screen shows how many won’t upload.
3

Tap Sync

While the sync runs, don’t leave the Sync screen or switch apps.
  • A progress bar shows the percentage and the time remaining.
  • The menu and Back button are disabled until the sync finishes.
4

Check the Result

If you see “Sync completed successfully”, you’re done. If you see “Sync error: …”, open the latest entry in Sync History to see what failed, and then follow Fix Sync Errors.
Sync several times a day. Your work reaches Salesforce sooner, and you get your manager’s latest changes. If your company uses background sync, it uploads your records, but not your photos. Each time, turn on Sync Images, and then tap Sync. At the end of the day, check that Total Records and Total Images are both 0. For the full end-of-day steps, see Finish Your Day. Keep these points in mind:
  • Use Reset Sync only when you need it. Use it when a normal sync fails or your data looks wrong. See Reset Your Offline Data.
  • Don’t log out to end your day. Logging out deletes work that hasn’t synced. Stay logged in. See Log Out Safely.
  • Optional: Sync only on Wi-Fi. In Settings, turn on WiFi Only. The Sync button and background sync then run only on Wi-Fi. Off Wi-Fi, you see “Sync is set to WiFi only. Connect to WiFi to sync.” The setting turns off when the app restarts. See Sync Settings.

Read the Sync Screen

Sync Status

Data and Images show when each last synced. Each shows PENDING if something is waiting, or COMPLETED if not.

Pending Changes

Logging out or switching users deletes any work that hasn’t synced. Before you log out, reinstall the app, or hand your device to someone else, make sure Total Records and Total Images are both 0. See Log Out Safely.

Background Sync Errors

If background sync had problems, you see N background error(s). Tap Show details to see which records failed and why. These records retry automatically at your next sync. Clear only hides the list. It doesn’t fix or remove the records.

Sync History

SYNC HISTORY lists your last 10 syncs. Each entry shows how many records went to and from Salesforce, and a status of SUCCESS, PARTIAL, or FAILED. Tap an entry to see its details. Problems are listed under ISSUES, and you can act on each one in these ways:
  • Tap the record name to open and fix the record.
  • Tap Retry Item to run another sync.
  • Tap Show Details to see the technical error. FieldKo support might ask for this.
To learn what each message means, see Fix Sync Errors. To refresh the Sync screen, pull down on it.
