# Storage and API Allowances

> Work out how much data storage, file storage, and daily application programming interface (API) capacity your org gets, and how FieldKo uses it.

Salesforce, not FieldKo, sets your org's storage and daily API allowance. It depends on your Salesforce edition and how many user licenses you have. FieldKo licenses don't add any storage to Salesforce's standard allocation, and FieldKo's data and photos count toward it like any other Salesforce data. This page shows how to work out your allowance and estimate what FieldKo uses.

## 2 Kinds of Storage

| Storage | What It Holds | FieldKo Examples |
| - | - | - |
| **Data storage** | Records | Visits, tasks, survey answers, orders, ranging, attendance, accounts, and contacts |
| **File storage** | Files and attachments | Photos from surveys, visits, incidents, and pack-outs, and signatures and documents |

Most records use about 2 kilobytes (KB) of data storage each. Files use their actual size. See [Data and File Storage Allocations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.overview_storage.htm\&type=5), [Salesforce Files Storage Allocations](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=experience.files_storage.htm\&type=5), and [Estimated Record Size by Object Type](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000383664\&type=1) in Salesforce Help.

## How Much Storage You Get

Your allowance is a base amount for the org plus an amount for each user license.

### FieldKo in Your Own Salesforce Org

| Edition | Data Storage | File Storage |
| - | - | - |
| Enterprise Edition | 10 gigabytes (GB), plus 20 megabytes (MB) per user license | 10 GB, plus 2 GB per user license |
| Unlimited Edition | 10 GB, plus 120 MB per user license (20 MB per Platform Starter license) | 10 GB, plus 2 GB per user license |

Some licenses add different amounts. For example, most Experience Cloud licenses for portal users add less data storage, and some add none. For Experience Cloud licenses, see [Experience Cloud User Licenses](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=platform.users_license_types_communities.htm\&type=5) in Salesforce Help.

### FieldKo with Salesforce Included

Your org is an Enterprise Edition org:

| Data Storage | File Storage |
| - | - |
| 10 GB, plus 20 MB per included user license | 10 GB, plus 2 GB per included user license |

Salesforce's name for apps sold with Salesforce included is original equipment manufacturer (OEM) apps. See the [OEM User License Guide](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/isvforce/guide/oem-user-license-comparison.html) in the Salesforce ISVforce Guide.

### Example

An Enterprise Edition org with 50 user licenses gets:

* **Data storage:** 10 GB + (50 × 20 MB) = about 11 GB
* **File storage:** 10 GB + (50 × 2 GB) = 110 GB

## Estimate What FieldKo Uses

### Data Storage

Most FieldKo data comes from visits. Count the records a typical visit creates, and multiply by about 2 KB each:

| Record | How Many per Visit |
| - | - |
| **Visit** | 1 |
| **FieldKo Order** | 1 per order placed |
| **Task** | 1 per task type on the visit |
| **Task Survey** | 1 per completed survey |
| **Task Survey Answer** | 1 per question answered |
| **FieldKo Order Line Item** | 1 per product ordered |
| **Ranging** and **Ranging Line Item** | 1 ranging record, plus 1 line per product in the range, each time a rep saves ranging |
| Salesforce event | 1, if your org creates an event for each visit |

For example, a visit with 3 tasks and 2 completed surveys of 10 questions each creates 1 visit, 3 tasks, 2 task surveys, and 20 survey answers: 26 records, or about 52 KB. If 50 reps each complete 8 of these visits a day on 220 working days a year, that's 88,000 visits and about 4.6 GB of data storage a year, before orders and ranging. Your numbers depend on your surveys, ranges, and visit plans, so measure them as described in [Check Your Storage](#check-your-storage).

### File Storage

Photos usually use far more storage than records. Multiply the number of photos reps take each month by the average photo size. To find your average photo size, note the file storage used on the **Storage Usage** page at the start and end of a month, and divide the increase by the number of photos reps took that month.

## Check Your Storage

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter `Storage Usage`, and then select **Storage Usage**.
2. Compare the data storage and file storage used with your limits.
3. In the list of record types, check how much each FieldKo object uses.

Salesforce updates these figures in the background, so recent changes can take a while to show. Check monthly, and after big rollouts. To plan retention and archiving, see [Plan for Data Volume, Storage, and Retention](https://support.fieldko.com/platform/data/data-volume.md).

## If You Go Over Your Storage

Salesforce keeps your production org running when you go over your storage allocation, but performance can drop, and Salesforce can't predict when. Full sandboxes stop accepting new data when they're full. See [Data storage amount limit exceeded](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000386657\&type=1) in Salesforce Help.

To free storage, archive older FieldKo data. See [Plan Retention and Archiving](https://support.fieldko.com/platform/data/data-volume.md#plan-retention-and-archiving).

To get more storage:

* **FieldKo in your own org:** Buy more storage from Salesforce, in the **Your Account** app or through your Salesforce account executive. Adding user licenses also adds storage.
* **FieldKo with Salesforce included:** Contact your FieldKo account manager.

## Daily API Allowance

The FieldKo Atlas app syncs through Salesforce's APIs, and so do integrations and data loads. These calls count toward your org's 24-hour allowance, and so do calls made by installed packages such as FieldKo.

Your org's allowance is 100,000 calls a day, plus an amount for each user license, plus any API capacity you've bought:

| License | Enterprise Edition | Unlimited Edition |
| - | - | - |
| Salesforce (Sales Cloud or Service Cloud) | 1,000 per license | 5,000 per license |
| Salesforce Platform or Platform Plus | 1,000 per license | 5,000 per license |
| Platform Starter | 200 per license | 200 per license |

For example, an Enterprise Edition org with 50 Platform Plus licenses gets 100,000 + (50 × 1,000) = 150,000 calls a day. With Salesforce included, each included user license adds 1,000 calls in Enterprise Edition.

For every license type, see [API Request Limits and Allocations](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/salesforce-app-limits-cheatsheet/guide/salesforce-app-limits-platform-api.html) in the Salesforce Developer Limits Quick Reference. To see your org's usage, see [API and Platform Limits](https://support.fieldko.com/platform/integrations/limits.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Salesforce changes its allocations from time to time. The figures on this page were checked against the Salesforce pages linked here in October 2026. Your contract decides what applies to you.
