# Add a New Product or Range

> Add a FieldKo product, price it, add it to core ranges, and retire products so reps can order and range them correctly.

When your company launches a product or changes a range, reps need it in the FieldKo Atlas app to order it, check distribution, and record core ranging. FieldKo uses its own **FieldKo Product**, **FieldKo Pricebook**, and **Product Set** objects, not the standard Salesforce Product and Price Book objects, so adding a product in Salesforce's standard Products tab doesn't reach reps. Use this checklist for each new product or range change.

## User Permissions Needed

| To do this | You need |
| - | - |
| Create products, price books, entries, and product sets | FieldKo Manager Permission Set |

## Before You Begin

* Gather the product name, category, unit price for each price book, and a product image.
* Decide which product sets (core ranges) include the product.
* To add many products or prices at once, see [Import and Update Data](/platform/data/import).

## Add the Product

Complete these steps in order. Each step links to the full instructions.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create the FieldKo Product">
    On the **Product** tab, create a **FieldKo Product**. Set **Status** to **Active**, and select a **FieldKo Product Category** so reps can filter by it. See [Products](/admin/products-ordering-ranging#products).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add Price Book Entries">
    In each price book that should sell the product, add a **FieldKo Pricebook Entry** with the **Unit Price**. Reps see the product on the order screen only for accounts whose **FieldKo Contract** links to that price book, and only while the price book has **isActive** selected and dates that include today. See [Price Books](/admin/products-ordering-ranging#price-books).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the Product to Core Ranges">
    To check the product's distribution in stores, open each **Product Set** that should include it, and add a **Product Set Line Item** for the product. Every account with a **Ranging Contract** for that set then sees the product on the core ranging screen. To start a new range, create a product set and add ranging contracts to the accounts. See [Core Ranging](/admin/products-ordering-ranging#core-ranging).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach a Product Image">
    On the product record, attach the image as a file or attachment. If a product has several images, the app shows the first one. Reps download product images when they sync with **Sync Images** turned on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Optional: Retire Products the New One Replaces">
    Set the old product's **Status** to **Inactive**. FieldKo then selects **Inactive** on all of its price book entries and product set line items, and reps stop seeing it on the order and ranging screens. Past orders and ranging keep the product.

    Setting the product back to **Active** doesn't undo this. To bring a product back, also deselect **Inactive** on each price book entry and product set line item you want to restore.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ask Reps to Sync">
    New products, prices, and range changes reach reps at their next sync. Ask reps to tap **Sync**, or wait for background sync.
  </Step>
</Steps>

**To confirm:** Open an account that has a FieldKo contract for the price book and a ranging contract for the product set. After a rep syncs, the product appears with its price on the order screen and on the core ranging screen for that account.

## Product Changes and What Reps See

| You Change | What Reps See After They Sync |
| - | - |
| A new product with a price book entry | The product on the order screen for accounts linked to that price book |
| A new product set line item | The product on the core ranging screen for accounts with that ranging contract |
| A new unit price | The new price on new orders |
| A product set to **Inactive** | The product disappears from the order and ranging screens |
| A price book with **isActive** deselected, or dates that don't include today | No products from that price book. If no other price book applies, "No active pricebooks found for this account". |
